Injuries have curtailed Gary Caldwell’s progress with Wigan Athletic over the past two seasons, though the club captain remains an integral part of the squad.
Named Latics’ Player of the Year in 2012, Caldwell was crucial in the run-in to securing Premier League football at the DW Stadium for an eighth successive season.
Unfortunately the Scottish international centre-back has featured just 31 times over the last two seasons after previously making 80 appearances in his first two years with the club.
Twice a Scottish Premier League winner with Celtic, Gary also won both Scottish cup competitions in his time at Parkhead, making 150 appearances in all competitions.
His memorable Latics moments include scoring the winner at Liverpool in March 2012 and notching in a 2-1 win over Bolton at the Reebok Stadium just a month earlier.
Now in his fifth year as a Latics player, only Mike Pollitt, Emmerson Boyce and Ben Watson from the current squad have spent more time as a first-team player at Latics.
