Garcia became Owen Coyle's eighth signing as Latics manager following a move from Honduran side Olimpia in July 2013.
Usually deployed as a left full back, Garcia becomes the fifth Honduran to arrive at Latics in the club's history and follows in the footsteps of Maynor Figueroa, Wilson Palacios and Hendry Thomas who all joined from Olimpia.
Garcia is capped internationally for Honduras and made his debut in a CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009 game against Grenada in which his side won 4-1, with Latics midfielder Roger Espinoza getting on the score sheet.
Before signing for the club Garcia represented his country in the 2013 Gold Cup semi-final against the USA, making it his third consecutive involvement in the Gold Cup having played in 2009 and 2011 previously.
USA are also the team against which Garcia got his first goal for Honduras when he turned in an acrobatic bicycle kick during a World Cup Qualifier in 2013.
At club level Garcia made over 50 appearances for Marathon in his native Honduras before joining Olimpia.
With Olimpia he won silverware, including two Apertura titles and two Clausura titles.
