Adam Bogdan joined Latics on loan from Liverpool on 20 July 2016, before making his first appearance in club colours in style later that day, saving a penalty in the 0-0 draw at Macclesfield Town, just minutes after replacing Jussi Jaaskelainen at half time.
The Hungarian featured twice more before the start of the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season, away to Rochdale and Oldham Athletic, keeping his second pre-season clean sheet against the latter.
CAREER SO FAR
Born on 27 September 1987 in Budapest, Bogdan began his career with Vasas SC in his native Hungary, before a loan spell with Vecses lower down the pyramid saw him impress scouts at Bolton Wanderers.
He made his Bolton debut on 24 August 2010 in a 1-0 victory over Southampton in the League Cup, before making his first ever Premier League appearance in a 2-2 draw with Birmingham City on 29 August 2010, following a red card to now Latics goalkeeper Jaaskelainen after just 39 minutes.
Bogdan made seven appearances in the 2010/11 season, including a clean sheet against Latics in Bolton's 1-0 FA Cup replay victory. Current goalkeeping coach Mike Pollitt and manager Gary Caldwell were in Latics' team that day. In 2011/12 Bogdan made 28 appearances in all competitions, earning him Bolton's Player of the Year award, despite their relegation from the Premier League.
He made 41 appearances during 2012/13 as Bolton missed out on the Championship play-offs on goal difference following a final day 2-2 draw with Blackpool, missing out to Leicester City. In 2013/14 Bogdan continued his progress, making 29 appearances, including an outstanding performance against Latics on 29 March 2014. After a string of impressive saves he was ultimately beaten by a late Nick Powell equaliser, but recovered to save a stoppage time penalty from Jordi Gomez.
After just 13 appearances in the 2014/15 season, the Hungarian joined Liverpool on a free transfer ahead of the 2015/16 campaign where he went on to make just six appearances.
The 28-year-old has been capped by Hungary 20 times, following appearances in the Under 21 squad at the start of his career. He is the second Hungarian to join the club, after Gabor Bukran in 2001.
