The Barcelona-born winger arrived at the club in the summer of 2011 from UD Almeria who had just been relegated from La Liga. He offers creativity and trickery, coupled with explosive pace and the ability to drift into attacking positions unnoticed by opposition defenders.
His experiences in Spain include over 200 appearances for Almeria and a rich football upbringing in the youth setup of RCD Espanyol which helped him to achieve international appearances at under 18 and 18 levels after winning the UEFA European Under 16 Championship in 1999.
After a move away from Barcelona-based Espanyol, Crusat found himself joining Almeria in the 2005/2006 season where he became an instant success with 11 league goals, helping to gain promotion to Spain’s elite.
The following season, he was part of the team that secured an 8th place finish in its first season.
The midfielder showed glimpses of his ability in his debut season at the DW Stadium as he adjusted to life in the Barclays Premier League.
He made his first team debut against Manchester City in September 2011 and scored his first Latics goal a month later, the third in the 3-3 home draw against Blackburn Rovers, a low drive that beat Rovers’ goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
