Emyr Huws joined Latics on a permanent basis from Manchester City on the final day of the summer transfer window in 2014 after initially signing on loan.
Huws scored twice in 17 appearances on loan at Birmingham City in the 2013-14 season and did enough to make him a prime target for Latics in the following transfer period.

Signed from Swansea City in 2009, where he had been in the Academy during Roberto Martinez’s time in South Wales, the midfielder made his Manchester City debut and only appearance for the club in January 2014 in an FA Cup replay at home to Blackburn Rovers.

He was captain of City’s Development Squad prior to tasting first team league action at Northampton during the 12-13 season, alongside Lee Nicholls.

The Welsh international, capped four times, suffered injury midway through his first Latics campaign and thus made just 16 appearances in all competitions.
