Donervon Daniels was an early acquisition in Gary Caldwell’s first full season as Latics manager, signing a three-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Premier League West Bromwich Albion.

One of 13 debutants in the 2-0 defeat at Coventry City on the opening day of the 2015-16 season, Daniels kicked on to appear in 45 games in all competitions, a record only David Perkins and Max Power could better.

Deployed as a right centre back, right back and right wing back throughout the campaign, Daniels also made his impact in front of goal with three goals during the season. His first came on his home debut against Scunthorpe United, whilst the other two were also at the DW Stadium in a 5-0 win over Colchester United.

Daniels was born on 24 November 1993 and developed through the Academy at West Bromwich Albion, impressing in the Under 18s and Under 21s before earning his first professional contract in 2011.

His first taste of professional football came during a loan spell with Tranmere Rovers in the 2012-13 season, making his debut as a substitute against Swindon Town.

Daniels made 14 appearances and scored his first professional goal whilst with the Prenton Park club, playing occasionally in the same team as fellow summer signing Max Power.

Daniels had a brief spell on loan at Gillingham, scoring on his debut in a 3-2 victory against Stevenage.  He went on to play just three times for the Kent club before returning to his parent club West Brom.

The defender began the 2014-15 season on loan at Blackpool, where he made 19 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship and scored one goal, before joining Aberdeen for the remainder of the 2014-15 campaign.

It was a debut to remember for Daniels, scoring the opening goal in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park, but unfortunately the Dons were defeated 2-1.
