Signed following the expiry of his contract at Rotherham United, Morgan joined Latics in June 2015 and was installed as club captain ahead of the 2015/16 Sky Bet League One title winning campaign.
Despite disruption through injury in September, Morgan went on to lead Latics 36 times in the league, scoring two crucial goals on the way to promotion.
His 90th minute equaliser to earn Latics 2-2 draw away at Bury in October helped to maintain the first impressive unbeaten run of the season, before popping up to head in during stoppage time once again in January 2016, completing his side's incredible comeback from 2-0 down against Gillingham at the DW Stadium.
CAREER SO FAR
Born 16 June 1985 in St. Asaph, Wales, Morgan began his career with Wrexham, making his debut as a 16-year-old on 6 April 2002 as a late substitute in a 5-0 victory against Cambridge United.
After 64 appearances in all competitions for Wrexham, including winning the Football League Trophy in 2005, Morgan moved to MK Dons in July 2005 where he made 47 appearances in all competitions in his debut season.
After joining Peterborough in January 2007, Morgan went on to make 144 appearances in total for Peterborough, scoring four goals and winning back-to-back promotions with the Posh as runners-up in League Two (2007-08) and runners-up in League One (2008-09).
For the second time in his career, Morgan won back-to-back promotions after moving to Rotherham United, helping to take the Millers from League Two all the way to the Championship, including captaining the League One play-off winning side in the 2013-14 season.
Morgan has been capped 23 times for Wales.
