Unfortunately for Latics, an injury picked up in the 2-1 FA Cup with Budweiser quarter-finals win over Manchester City curtailed Chris McCann’s 2013-14 season and he will be looking to re-find his best form for the club in the 2015-16 season after struggling to feature regularly throughout the 2014-15 season.
McCann had been a stand-out performer in his debut campaign after joining from Burnley on a three-year deal in the summer of 2013.
The Dublin-born midfielder made over 250 appearances in eight years with the Clarets after originally moving from Home Farm as a youth.
The former Republic of Ireland youth international made 38 appearances over the course of his first year with Latics, scoring three goals – all of which came in wins over Reading, Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City respectively.
Only a further 18 appearances were added the Irish midfielder's tally in the 2014-15 campaign, though he did notch twice with headed goals in defeats at Sheffield Wednesday and Watford.
