Home defeat to start the season for youth team

Dave Watson's youth started the season with a scoreline to mirror that of the first team against Blackpool, losing 4-0 at home to Port Vale.

But the scoreline was somewhat flattering:  "I think it was a flattering result to be honest," said Watson.

"Up until the 75th minute, it was still 0-0 then all of a sudden, in the last 15 minutes it was crash, bang wallop and we conceded four goals.

"But we did very well up until then, playing some good football.

"Maybe a few heads went down after the first goal and we got punished for it."
