YOUTH: LATICS 5 BLACKPOOL 2

Posted on: Tue 14 Apr 2009

Dave Watson's Latics Youth side put in another great performance at the weekend and comprehensively demolished Blackpool to move into 5th spot in the North West Youth Alliance.

A very young team featuring four Under 16s players were in control throughout with goals from the Callum McManaman, his 8th in 20 games this season to go with the goals he has been scoring for the reserves recently, two from School of Excellence striker Michael Jukes, and one each for Tommy Amos and substitute David Mayer.

Watson was delighted with the outcome. "They really put a shift in today," he said, "and considering there were only three second years in the side, I was really pleased. Hopefully they can carry this on for the rest of the season, then use that as a platform next season."
