A Callum McManaman penalty was enough to separate the sides as Dave Waton's team kicked off the New Year with a fully deserved victory.

McManaman was the player brought down for the crucial decision and he picked himself up to despatch the spot kick safely into the back of the net and give Latics the points.

Dave Watson said "It was a tough game for the lads but they stuck to the task well and were disciplined."
