Latics went down 2-0 to Stockport County and the Youth team boss Dave Watson said it was hard to find many positives after a disappointing defeat at home.

"I can't really put my finger on what went wrong," he said. "We prepared well but too many lads didn't perform on the day.

"Consistency is what all coaches are looking for at all levels, and it is frustrating when standards dip below the required level.

"Let's see how they bounce back and react to this. They need to show more character."
