Latics Pre-vail over Vale

A fantastic game in which Latics were always in control but Port Vale clung on bravely until a final flourish finally killed them off.

Callum McManaman opened the scoring with a header before Vale equalised.Then Tommy Amos tapped in for 2-1.Vale equalised again before Aiden Kirkbride put Latics 3-2 up.

The goal of the match was probably skipper Jordan Mustoe's curling free-kick to make it 4-2.Port Vale pulled it back to 4-3 but Latics killed off the contest with another goal for Kirkbride and one for Daniel Redmond.

Dave Watson said "I was pleased for them.There were a few bad moments defensively but the boys were so positive throughout and got their just rewards in the end."
