A late goal from the home side prevented Dave Watson's boys from winning the three points on the Wirral but the manager was please with the team.

He said his injury-ravaged side battled manfully against a very competitive Rovers.

"I had two Under 16's as my full-backs and they battle really well, it was a great experience for all of them becuase after going ahead they were forced to hang on a bit"

"The goal came late on but credit to the them for not falling apart and getting a result."

Latics had gone ahead when Adam Prince's first half corner was headed into his own net by a Rover defender.
