YOUTH: PORT VALE 4 LATICS 0

Posted on: Fri 24 Oct 2008

A bad day at the office all round with injuries ravaging Dave Watson squad, and only 11 fit players available, the rest of the squad made up by Under 16s.

To cap off a bad day, goalkeeper Neil Postlethwaite broke a finger early in the second half following an accidental collision, and with No2 keeper Keenan Gracey already unavailable, centre half Nick Meace was forced to deputise between the posts.

"It was a tough day, no question," said Watson, "we were up against it from the word go but the lads underperformed and they were the first to admit it.

"Let's see how they can bounce back from the disappointment because the tell-tale sign of good players is if they can put set backs behind them."
