Perfect start for Latics Youth Team

Wigan Athletic Youth got their 2008-09 season off to the perfect start with a solid away performance and victory over north-west rivals Bury.

The game was settled by a Jonathan Crane strike. The goal came on 75 minutes when a Jordan Mustoe played a long diagonal ball to the feet of Jonathan Crane who took the ball in his run and slid it past the keeper.

The manager, Dave Watson was extremely pleased with the effort and emphasised the importance of the pre-season work-out.

"A great start to the season and a good team performance." He said.

"Good to see all of the hard work in pre season hours spent running and hours spent on ball work pay off.

"I could really see the benefit of the pre season work in the game and the lads' fitness level was excellent."
