Youth Team Manager David Lowe said "The lads did very well.

"Considering that Wrexham haven't been beaten all season and have only conceded two goals, we were really pleased with the result and the performance."

The Youth Team have a similar to the season as the first team having played some great football without gaining the results the performances have deserved.

"They've been assign the ball around very well and in training the keep ball sessions have been excellent and they carried that on Saturday, but the bottom line is that you've got to put the ball in the net."

Lowey also picked out an outstanding performance from Joe Holt who won the penalty and also set up the second goal.

"Joe Holt capped a very good performance to be perfectly honest, obviously he gained the penalty for the team and was probably bullied out of taking it by the strikers."

The lads now await the draw for the second round of the competition and Lowey says it's something to building on and look forward to.

"Obviously we want to keep the season going as long as we can and that means staying in contention in the league and obviously getting as far as we possibly can in the cups."

The YT's next fixturesees them back at Wrexham this weekend looking to repeat Saturdays heroics in the league.
