The tough tackling midfielder signed a three year contract with Wigan in July 2007 after an eighteen month spell with Fulham.
The 30-year old began his career at Manchester City and when the Sky Blues suffered relegation from the top flight, he broke into the first team during the mid-90's. Brown even featured against Latics in the Second Division (now League One) as City beat Latics 1-0 in the league at Maine Road, and featured in both play-off semi-finals at the end of the 1998/99 season.
The Hartlepool born man received England U21 honours before moving to Sheffield United in January 2000 where he would remain for four years. During his time in Yorkshire, Brown made 147 league appearances and scored 28 goals, and won two Supporters Player of the Year awards in the process. The midfielder was even top scorer for the Blades with an incredible 22 goals!
Brown moved to Spurs in January 2004 but found opportunities limited in his second season at White Hart Lane, and so moved on to Fulham. He made 41 league appearances for the Cottagers before moving back to the North West.
