Di Santo arrives with Wigan boasting a huge amount of Premier League experience for such a young age.
The 21 year old spent most of last season on loan with Blackburn Rovers where he made 22 appearances, plus his previous eight appearances for Chelsea.
The highly rated Argentine striker started his professional career in Chile with Audax Italiano before joining Chelsea in January 2008.
He made his Premier League debut on 31 August 2008 in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, coming on in place of Nicolas Anelka late in the game. At Chelsea, he also gained Champions League experience replacing Florent Malouda in a game against FCR Cluj.
Di Santo made his debut for the Argentina under-20 team in 2006 and scored his first goal in a game against the French under-20s. He was part of the under-20 squad that participated in the 2007 South American Youth Championship in Paraguay. Brazil went on to win the tournament having a two point advantage over Argentina.
He was also called up to the 2009 South American Youth Championship in Venezuela, but wasn't allowed to take part due to Chelsea's injury crises.
As of writing, he currently has 25 caps for the U20's side with 5 goals.
