Defensive midfielder with good presence of mind and the awareness to pick out pass, quickly turning defence into attack. His strength and pace are also seen as key elements in his style of play.
Thomas' arrival at Latics was eventually confirmed in July 2009 after a delay concerning work permit issues. He joined from Honduran outfit Club Olimpia where Latics also unearthed the talents of Wilson Palacios and Maynor Figueroa.
Thomas actually holds a prestigious honour in Olimpia's history, having scored the club's 2000th goal in all competitions since their inception in 1912.
Internationally he has won 7 caps for the Honduran U23 side, as well as captaining the team between 2007-08, and has been a member of the senior squad since 2005, winning 32 caps and scoring twice.
