Rachid joined Wigan on a 3-year deal in August 2007, and was described as a very quick and dangerous winger who could play on either flank, he had been with Sparta since the age of 10 and come through the ranks of his home town club. The Dutchman, of Moroccan descent, played 71 times in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring five goals.
Bouaouzan joined the Moroccan national team in their preparation in October 2006 in the Netherlands. He has played for the Dutch U21-team, but remains eligible to play for both senior national teams.
After failing to secure a first team place in the 2007-08 season, Rachid spent the 2008-09 season in loan at NEC Nijmegen.
