19-year old David Cotterill signed for Latics on transfer deadline day in August 2006, and was literally hours away from completing a dead with Championship club Norwich City before manager Paul Jewell made an eleventh hour bid for the player.
Cotterill signed a three year contract after arriving from Bristol City and his blistering pace and hard working ethic is what attracted former boss Paul Jewell to the player.
The Cardiff born striker made over 60 league appearances for the Robins after making his debut against Colchester in October 2004.
In his first season at the JJB Stadium, Cotterill made 16 Premiership appearances and scored a brilliant goal at West Ham with a clinical curling shot. Capable of playing on either the right wing or as a striker, and certainly seems to have a bright future.
