Preview

It's a 400 mile round trip for Wigan Athletic's final pre-season fixture before the Barclays Premier League gets underway next Saturday at home to Blackpool, and another chance for Latics fans to take a look at the new boys Boselli, Alcaraz, Stam and McArthur - all who were impressive in their home debuts on Wednesday night, despite the result.

Dundee United, like Wigan Athletic, also begin their new league campaign next Saturday (against St. Mirren) and then face a UEFA Europa League qualifier against AEK Athens.  The 'Terrors' most recent outing saw them suffer a 2-1 defeat at the KC Stadium to Championship side Hull City.

Manger on the Opposition

Speaking after the home friendly against Real Zaragoza in midweek, Roberto Martinez expects a tough game from the Tanndice outfit.

"Another important game," said Martinez.

"I think the way that Dundee play will give us a completely different situation that Real Zaragoza.

"But that's exactly what we need - different dimensions, different problems on the pitch - and we're really getting close now to being ready for the start of the season."

Team News

Again Wigan Athletic's only injury concern is the absence of Gary Caldwell who is recovering from a hip operation he underwent shortly after the end of last season.
