MATCH REPORT: CHESTER 4 LATICS XI 0

Posted on: Sun 01 Aug 2010
An inexperienced Latics XI were on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat to Chester City at the Diva Stadium.

Roberto Martinez and Graham Barrow had a less than enjoyable return to the Diva Stadium.  Graham Barrow was in charge as Roberto Martinez arrived later after a morning training session with the first team to returned from Austria on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Michael Wilde, Oliver Ryan, Rob Hopley and captain George Horan ensured Chester of a well-deserved victory over an inexperienced Latics side.

Chances were few and far between in the opening stages, but the hosts gradually took control of proceedings and it came as no surprise when they broke the deadlock in the 30th minute.  Chester made it two before half-time and went on to notch up a further two goals in the second period as well as seven substitutions.

CHESTER: Oldfield, Aspin (Jones 68), Horan, Ruffer (Meadowcroft 60), Williams, Peers (Howard 56), Stones, Graves (Connolly 46), Rigoglioso (Bailey 66), Ryan (Hopley 60), Wilde (Yofee 68).
