MORRIS NO LONGER MINOR

Posted on: Wed 28 Jul 2010

Youngster relishing first-team experience and eager to impress

Callum Morris is delighted to have been given the opportunity to travel to Austria with the first-team, keen to learn from his piers and continue his own natural progression.

The midfielder finished last season on a real high, producing match-winning performances for the reserve team and looking a fine prospect for the future.

"I was happy with how last season went, finishing it by featuring regularly in the reserves and hopefully I can carry that on this season again," said Morris.

"There's going to be tough competition in that team this year but I'm just keeping my head-down, working hard and looking forward to it.

"The manager's told to just keep progressing the way I have been, keep performing in the reserves because I'm doing well."

Callum gave an impressive display in the team's opening game of the tour against NK Rudar and explained how he's learning from the players around him, saying;

"It's been a good week so far and a great opportunity for me to get to know the first-team, mix in with them and learn too.

"I only found out I was coming out the day before we left so it was a bit of a rush to get things together but I was made up to be given the call."

"As a midfielder I'm always watching the likes of James McCarthy, Momo Diame and Ben Watson to pick up a few tips from and see what standards they set.

"It's a bit surreal when you watch them on TV all the time and then next minute you're lining-up alongside them in a game but it's a great experience at the same time."
