Defender ready to play and hungry to show what he's made of

After missing the majority of last season through injury young Spanish defender Roman Golobart is ready to show what he's capable of during his time with the first-team in Austria.

"I'm feeling good after about ten months without any intense training so I'm trying to stay safe and injury-free, but at the same time enjoying the experience.

"For me right now it's all about getting myself fit in time for the new season.

"After last season my aim is simply to start playing football again.

"Looking forward I want to be doing that at Premier League level, but I have a lot of work to do before that comes.

The towering centre-half who has settled into the club superbly since his move last season is ready to put his injury-frustration behind him and compete regularly, seeking advice from one of the club's top pros.

He said: "It's nice to be out here in Austria and to be with the first-team learning things off all of them every day.

"I've learnt a lot so far from players such as Boycey and I'm always concentrating on giving the best performance possible for Wigan Athletic.

"During every game, every training session and off the pitch as well I'm always talking to Boycey and he's been fantastic in giving me lots of advice and encouragement, setting a good example for me."
