JIMMY TWOS!

McCarthy delighted to have 'great signing' McArthur at Latics

James McCarthy believes his new team-mate James McArthur will prove to be a great addition to the squad and expects his former Hamilton team-mate to fight his way into the first-team.

"It's massive for the club", said McCarthy. "Another great signing and hopefully he'll do well here.

"He's settling in well with the rest of the boys, enjoying himself and hopefully it's just a matter of time before he gets in the team.

"James will give us a bit of dig in the middle. He likes to get on the ball and spray passes across the park and I'm sure once he gets in the team he'll do well."

James was speaking before the team's first match during their Austria tour against NK Rudar, a game in which he was on the score-sheet and gave a massive performance.

The midfielder knows that although results come second at this part of the season, coming away with a couple of wins adds to the squad's confident mood;

"As always getting yourself fit and sharp is the main priority at this part of the season and although results aren't the point of these games, as a player you want to come away from matches having won the contest, so hopefully we can come away from Austria with two wins.

"It's a lovely place, fantastic training facilities and you couldn't ask for any more in all honesty.

"It's good to have a change of scenery and come away with all the boys before the start of the season and it'll go a long way towards getting us up to full-speed.

"Out here you're keeping yourself relaxed and between sessions just doing your best to chill-out.

"Most of us have brought our lap-tops so we can get online to pass the time. It can drag a little at times but we're here to work and we don't forget that."
