BRAMBLE LEAVES FOR SUNDERLAND

Posted on: Fri 23 Jul 2010

Martinez: "Tough decision but one we had to make for the benefit of the club"

Wigan Athletic can confirm that defender Titus Bramble has today joined Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

The 28 year old completed a medical at the North East club and agreed terms with the Black Cats and team up with former-manager Steve Bruce.

The move brings an end to Bramble's three-years at the club, where he made 94 league appearances, scoring five goals.

Latics manager Roberto Martinez said: "Sometimes you have to make financial decisions for the good of the club and allow the squad to develop and get stronger.

"Everyone here wishes Titus all the best for the future because he has been a magnificent servant to Wigan Athletic in his time here."

Bramble said: "I want to thank everyone at Wigan because I have really enjoyed my time there. The fans have been brilliant to me and to win the Player of The Year Award from both the supporters and my fellow pros is something I will never forget."
