Posted on: Tue 20 Jul 2010

Latics new 2010-11 kit to be worn for the first time tonight against Oldham Athletic

Wigan Athletic's new home kit for the 2010-11 season, manufactured by MIFIT, will be worn for the first time by the players tonight as they travel to take on Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park in the first domestic pre-season friendly of the year.

The newly redesigned kit, featuring a single white stripe to the left side, will be available for sale from August 10, in time for the opening Barclays Premier League match at home to Blackpool at the DW Stadium on August 14 - with pre orders being taken from the Wigan Athletic Club Shop at the DW Stadium from Friday July 23.

Latics' new Argentine striker Mauro Boselli, and midfielder Mohamed Diame, were the first to model the kit ahead of tonight's game, which retail at £39.99 for a short sleeved adult, £29.99 for a short sleeved junior.

The players will then wear the strip during their Austrian pre-season trip, and at home to Real Zaragoza on August 4.

Latics manager Roberto Martinez is delighted with the kit. He said: "From the players point of view, they always look for comfort first, and durability and this a very nice shirt.

"It follows the club traditional blue and white and I think the fans will like it. It is a kit worthy of our Wigan Athletic!"
