Preview

Biggest game of the season, six pointer, the season in ninety minutes - give it any name you like but the fact of the matter is that if Wigan can win on Wednesday night, they could be 7 points above the relegation zone.

For Portsmouth there are many permutations of how they could play this game - nothing to play for, playing for cup final places and team selections affecting bonus payments are just some of those permutations.

Team News

Gary Caldwell will sit this one out, he is serving his second game of a 3-match ban.Emmerson Boyce is likely to be available after recovering from a troublesome back/hip problem.  However Latics will leave it late to decide whether to include Hendry Thomas who has been nursing a quad injury.

Portsmouth are boosted by the return of Anthony Vanden Borre after suspension.

However, several members of Sunday's FA semi-final winning team are rated doubtful, including the impressive Kevin-Prince Boateng and Aaron Mokoena.

The Manager

Wigan Manager Roberto Martinez does not believe that Portsmouth will lie down, just because they have nothing to play for in the league, in fact that could have the opposite effect.

"Even though they are relegated through issues which at times have been out of their hands, we know we'll have to be at our very best against a competitive side.

"In the league they can afford to relax now, enjoy their football and play for the benefit of their own individual careers, and that makes them a very difficult side to play against."
