Preview

The win over Liverpool was magnificent, but it will count for nothing if Latics cannot get something from Saturday's game at the Reebok Stadium against a Bolton side who are smarting from a 4-0 defeat to Steve Bruce's Sunderland.  Sunderland ended their 100 day winless run in midweek against Bolton, and Latics will have to buck a trend of their own of losing after every victory so far this season, to capitalise.

The Wigan Athletic manager has once again this week paid tribute to the Latics fan's, for whom he has great affection.  When it comes to the support of Wigan Athletic, while other criticise attendances, Roberto Martinez's glass is always half full on this subject.  That support will be in full view of Spaniard on Saturday when he sees the biggest Latics following of season awaiting his side at the Reebok Stadium.

Team News

Wigan Athletic's only injury concern is over Captain Mario Melchiot so Emmerson Boyce is set to continue at right-back.

Bolton will be without Sam Ricketts who was sent off in the 4-0 defeat at Sunderland.  Bolton will also continue without the services of Stuart Holden, who suffered a fractured leg in the the United States' 2-1 friendly defeat by the Netherlands.

The Manager

Manager Roberto Martinez sees the game as a crucial one for Latics and believes their 4-0 reverse at the Stadium of Light didn't tell the whole story.

"It's a very important fixture for us and we all know it's going to be a very different game from the one against Liverpool.

"I said before the Liverpool game that now is not a time to focus too much on the league table and that's exactly the same now.

"We have to concentrate on improving ourselves and make sure we finish the season as strong as we can do. If we do that then we'll get the rewards and achieve our aims.

"We must go to Bolton with the determination and desire to re-produce the performance we showed on Monday and make our fans proud.

"I watched their recent game against Sunderland and for an hour I thought Bolton were the better side. After a great win at West Ham they're now on the back of a disappointing defeat and it goes to show how results don't often reflect performances.

"At home they'll want to bounce back and we have to be ready for that, it's going to be a tense derby where concentration will be huge and the little details are going to determine the outcome.

"We need to be the side that takes advantage of the situation to continue the hard-work from Monday."
