'WIN GIVES US BIG BOOST' - N'ZOGBIA

Posted on: Tue 09 Mar 2010

Charles believes Liverpool victory will have big impact on remaining games

Monday night's Barclays Man of the Match Charles N'Zogbia reflected on an inspirational team performance that helped overcome Liverpool at the DW Stadium.

The winger, who scored against the Reds at Anfield back in December, praised the efforts of everyone in blue and white; looking a real threat in possession and not letting anything get through them in defence.

N'Zogbia almost made it 2-0 in the second-half, through on goal he squeezed the ball past Pepe Reina only for Paul Scharner to poke inches wide under pressure at the back-post. Thankfully it mattered not, and the Frenchman stressed the importance of this victory:

"Everyone's delighted to have won the game and claimed all three points. It was a massive win and to do it over a club like Liverpool will give everyone a boost going into final games of the season," said N'Zogbia.

"We've all got to keep working hard, stick together and take this form into the upcoming games.

"It was a great team performance on the night and we know what we have to do going forward now.

"Keeping hold of the lead was a big positive and showed that sometimes it's not all about the football you play with the ball, you have to work hard defending your lead and we did that very well."

Recently Charles has found himself to be a marked man in games, with opposition teams putting two, sometimes three men on him. But as he explains it's all part and parcel of top-flight football and he's happy to keep working hard, giving 100% for the team and focusing on this weekend's game at Bolton:

"That's football, team's are always changing their set-up with each game to deal with the opposition's threat. I just have to deal with that and keep working hard for the rest of the team.

"Now we're looking to the Bolton game this weekend which is going to be a tough one, but if we keep fighting like we did against Liverpool we've got a good chance of getting another great result."
