Club confirms that this afternoon's Barclays Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur goes ahead

Wigan Athletic have confirmed that despite heavy snow in the Wigan area overnight and in the early hours of this morning, this afternoon's Barclays Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur definitely goes ahead as scheduled with a 4.15pm kick off.

Tickets are still available.

The DW Stadium pitch undersoil heating has been functioning throughout the week, while snow ploughs and gritters have made the main access roads into the stadium passable.

The club are warning, however, that it may be forced into some car park closures, depending on conditions later today.  Details of any closures will be posted on the website later today.

Supporters are being reminded that conditions remain potentially hazardous and roads throughout the region continue to be affected by the adverse weather.

With temperatures forecast to hover around the freezing mark all day, the club stresses that supporters should take care.

Brenda Spencer, Chief Executive of Wigan Athletic, said: "We are all delighted that head groundsman Ian Forshaw and Stadium Manager Alan Sumner have once again worked wonders to beat the weather, but we urge supporters to wrap up warm, allow extra time for their journey and take every precaution they can."

Tickets for the match can be purchased right up to kick off, in person at the DW Stadium Ticket Office, by calling the Ticket Office on 0871 6633552 for collections.
