KINGSON IN FINAL TODAY

Posted on: Sun 31 Jan 2010

Latics keeper out to make history today

Richard Kingson today becomes the first Wigan Athletic player to take part in a major international tournament, when he captains Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations Final against Egypt.

Kingson has been a reliable skipper for his country throughout the competition, having to pick the ball out of his net just three times.

After defeating Nigeria in the Semi-Finals on Thursday the Black Stars now have the chance to claim their first title since 1982, but will face their toughest test yet.

Egypt have been ruthless on their journey to the Final, scoring 14 goals and conceding just two.

The Pharaohs are favourites to take their seventh title, but Ghana's young and inexperienced side have been an inspiration, solid in defence and creative in midfield.

Kick Off is 4.00pm and coverage starts from 3.30pm on BBC2.
