New signing makes first appearance against Bolton for reserves

Fans will be able to catch their first glimpse of Steve Gohouri tonight as Latics' reserve team take on Bolton Wanderers in the Barclays Premier Reserve League.

In a bid to achieve match-fitness the Ivorian has been handed a start along with fellow senior player Erik Edman as Graham Barrow's team get their league campaign underway again.

Recent weather conditions have meant that the team have not played since their 3-0 defeat to Sunderland on December 1^st, and a good performance tonight will hopefully see them start to move away from the bottom of the table.

The gaffer knows tonight's game is a big one for all involved:

"Obviously we've all suffered a bit with the weather, and the fixtures for the reserves have been off for a while," said Martinez.

"It's important now, after a bit of a breather, to see them back in action in an exciting game, and obviously it'll be good to see Steve (Gohouri) get some game-time. He'll be looking to get up to full fitness alongside Erik (Edman), and it'll be ideal for them to experience an 11 v 11 situation."
