Wigan Athletic prepare to welcome former manager Steve Bruce to the DW Stadium as they look to bounce back from last Sunday defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, we'll not remind you of the score. Steve Bruce's Sunderland side in contrast, arrive in Wigan looking to build on their 1-0 win over Arsenal at the Stadium of Light.
Team News
Maynor Figueroa having made the bench last Saturday should be a week nearer to full fitness and could return at left-back. Figueroa's return would give Martinez a fully fit squad to select from.
Sunderland could be without striker Darren Bent who had a scan on his hamstring earlier this week but the noises coming from the Stadium of Light are saying the initial estimation of a mid-December return may be way off the mark and he could play some part in Saturday's game.
Kenwyne Jones completes his final game of a three-match suspension while Michael Turner returns from his suspension.Lee Cattermole will have to wait for a reunion with his former club until the return fixture in February as he remains on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The Manager
The Wigan Athletic manager is not surprisingly expecting to see a positive response after last weekend's defeat at White Hart Lane and says the players have, so far, responded accordingly.
"The reaction of the players has been very, very good. Sunday was a very hurtful day and a hurtful experience and the reaction has been very important," said Martinez.
"We've had great support from our fans who I know have been hurting with us, but the humiliation is not from a score-line like that, the humiliation comes if you're not able to find the answers or become stronger afterwards.
"I'll guarantee that is what we've done this week and we're going to be ready for Saturday.
"When you're hurting from something as a group the human instinct is to get close to one another and work even harder to overcome it.
"We've always had very high standards in training and this week has really highlighted that, which has been very pleasing. The next game can't come quick enough for the players, they're eager to put things right and can't wait for kick-off."
