Preview
Latics move into Sunday's game with the aim of removing the badge of inconsistency that has so far been the only frustrating element of the opening quarter of this season. Last Saturday's visit to Fratton Park only served to highlight that frustration after the team had previously played so well at Burnley and at the DW Stadium against Manchester City.
Fulham head to the Northwest on the back of two contrasting results themselves - a fine win against Liverpool that heaped the pressure once more onto Raffa Benitez and a 2-1 defeat in Rome that leaves their Europa dreams hanging by a thread. However domestically, Fulham are in fine form, the afore-mentioned defeat to Roma was their first in seven matches.
The Managers
Roberto Martinez said "I've been pleased with the work so far this week and we're looking forward to Sunday at the DW.
"They're (Fulham) a side that have been playing together for a long time, they've got huge experience, they're very well organised and they're on the back of a phenomenal season.
"They've just played Roma in Europe which tells you how far they've come.
"We will have to be at our very best on the day to be competitive."
Roy Hodgson said "Wigan are a good team and I think Steve Bruce did a good job in organising them there. He left a good legacy and Roberto Martinez has continued the good work.
"We've got a tough task ahead of us trying to get a result up in Wigan, especially in a week like this one, with Liverpool and Roma preceding the match but that's the task ahead and the task we're preparing for.
"We'll have to try and make sure that if they're going to beat us they're going to have to be pretty good on the day."
Team News
Latics will once again be without Maynor Figueroa who is sidelined with a knee injury.
Damien Duff (Achilles) remains on the sidelines, although there is an outside posibiltiy he may feature. The Cottagers will give fitness tests to Danny Murphy and striker Andrew Johnson, but they have no fresh injury concerns after the defeat to Roma.
