Preview

Burnley host Wigan with a 100% home record in the Barclays Premier League, having beaten Manchester United, Everton, Sunderland and Birmingham.  Latics will have to buck that trend if they are to come away from Turfmoor with anything on Saturday afternoon.  One way that would be likely, is if they could return to the away form displayed in the opening day win over Aston Villa - perhaps the claret and blue will serve to remind them of that.

There's also been a bit of a stalemate between the two men in charge as each manager praised each other and the way they have organised their resepective camps.

The Managers

Roberto Martinez is fully aware that Burnley is a difficult place to travel.

"Owen Coyle's team have carried on their momentum from last season and have a solid group of players, who give their team different dimensions.

"We know it'll be a tough environment and the biggest challenge for us will be to impose ourselves on the game and compete against a team with a high tempo and who make it difficult for the opposition to make a break-through."

Owen Coyle knows his team will have to be on the money to beat the Latics.

"They are an established Premier League club and they have shown in beating Chelsea at home and taking a point against Manchester city on Sunday that this is a very good Wigan side, so we will have to be at our very best."

Team News

Owen Coyle is without McCann, Paterson (both knee) and Rodriguez (ankle). Burnley have no new injuries worries ahead of the game and will be boosted by the return Fernando Guerrero who is back in the Clarets sqaud after a mid-week appearance for the Reserves.

Roberto Martinez may be forced into changing a starting line up for the first time since the Chelsea game with Paul Scharner and Chris Kirkland both rated as only 50/50.  Chris Kirkland suffered a dislocated finger against Manchester City while Paul Scharner is suffering from a hip problem which saw him substituted in the same game.
