CHAMPAGNE CHARLES GIVING 100%

Posted on: Mon 19 Oct 2009
Winger enjoying the season so far and happy with Sunday performance

Speaking after Sunday's 1-1 draw with Manchester City, and with his man-of-the-match bottle of champagne in hand, Charles N'Zogbia revealed how he continues to give 100% every time he pulls on the Latics shirt and was delighted to get one over a former team-mate.

"In every game I'm trying my best for Wigan Athletic, and I certainly enjoyed myself against Man City, as I have been all season," said the Frenchman.

"I tried very hard to get the first goal, and as a team we kept pushing them and adding pressure until it came. When I saw Hugo (Rodallega) shoot and Shay Given parry, I took my chance and got the rewards.

N'Zogbia also admitted that with 10-men City were there for the taking but despite their best efforts Latics just couldn't make the break-through.

He said; "As a team we all worked really hard to try and win the game, especially after taking the lead just before half-time.

"Unfortunately they managed to score an equaliser to even things up, but to come away with a point isn't so bad.

"They broke us down to get their goal which was disappointing, but our response after that was great and I think we did really well for the remainder of the game.

"When I saw the referee produce the red-card I was thinking that that was our chance to go and get the win.

"We kept the ball well, created space and had a few good attempts at goal to try and get the winner, but just couldn't find a way through."
