Winger eager to work-hard and earn place in starting eleven
After scoring his first goal for Latics Scott Sinclair admitted that it has been difficult waiting for a start in the first team, but is determined to keep giving 100% to make it happen.
Sinclair came of the bench for the seventh time this season and made an immediate impact, looking dangerous on the left-wing and getting into the right position for his goal, and he believes that hard work is the key to earning a place in the starting eleven.
"I'm delighted to get my first goal in the Premier League, and hopefully it can kick-start me to get a few more. But I'm also disappointed that it wasn't enough to get us a point," said Sinclair.
"It's frustrating for any player to be sitting on the bench, waiting to get on, but you can only keep working hard in training and giving it 100% and be ready to take your chance when it comes.
"I feel I can offer a little bit of pace to the team, and hopefully that's why the gaffer brought me to the club.
"It's all about being patient, and hopefully my time will come. I've scored my first goal and hopefully I can kick on from here.
"The gaffer has been putting me in for 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there, and he's building up to hopefully putting me in.
"At the end of the day, it's up to the gaffer and all I can do is keep going."
After the disappointment of the Hull City result, Sinclair is eager to focus on Latics' upcoming game at home to Manchester City, a week on Sunday, and hopes the experiences from Chelsea will help towards getting a result
He said; "The lads were very disappointed, and we're all hoping we can do better in the next game.
"Every player would have been thinking that if we could get one goal then we'd be able to get a second, and until the final whistle went anything could have happened.
"We've got a little break now and we'll all be raring to go for the next game.
"We know it's against Manchester City, and that will be more difficult, but we beat Chelsea so you never know."
