Saturday's Goal-scorer delighted with Chelsea win and focused on Hull

Titus Bramble explained how the belief Roberto Martinez has instilled in the team, and the lessons they've learnt so far this season, guided them to a tremendous victory over Chelsea at the weekend.

The centre-half got the day off with a bang, heading home the opener and standing firm at the back against the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba, and told us how delighted the team were with the result.

"Obviously we've tried 34 times to beat one of the big boys, and we were all delighted with the result," said Bramble.

"After last week we got taught a lesson at Arsenal, and nobody thought we would get anything against Chelsea. But we worked hard all week and got our rewards.

"At half-time the gaffer encouraged us to stick to our game plan, keep doing what we had been doing and not to change. I think we were the better side in the first-half, and he helped us to keep believing in ourselves which worked."

"It's nice to score a goal but it's not normally my job. To be honest I would much rather keep a clean sheet.

"The last few weeks we've worked especially hard on our set-pieces, because we know we can be a big threat in that situation, that showed on Saturday."

One big change for Bramble and his defence this season is the new-look midfield in front of them, and he has been more than impressed with the form of Momo Diame and Hendry Thomas ahead of this weekend's trip to Hull City.

"I think it was probably the best game Hendry and Momo have played so far at the club, they were absolutely outstanding throughout.

"They've done well all season so far to be honest, but on Saturday they really stood out, and showed what good players they are.

"Some players can take six or seven months to fully adapt to the Premier League but these two have come in and looked as though they've been playing in it their whole career.

"We knew things would take time with a new manager coming in with new plans and new players, so hopefully we can continue to progress and use this result to help us do that.

"Confidence is sky-high after the win we've got to make sure we go and beat Hull City this weekend. These are the teams we've got to make sure we beat because we want to stay as far away from them as possible, so three points against them will be a big step forward.

"It was a great result there last year but to be honest I would be just as happy with a 1-0 win, let's not get greedy."
