Defender wants to forget Arsenal and bounce-back against Chelsea

Eager to put Saturday's defeat at Arsenal behind him, Emmerson Boyce believes that although the result wasn't too pleasing, it's important to put things into perspective.

Speaking after the game, Boyce commented on how the team have to learn from the experience and hopes to benefit from having home advantage against Chelsea this weekend.

"We have to get Arsenal out of the way," said Boyce.

"People will have looked at this game as a bonus if we had come away with a result.

"So in theory it's not as bad as it looks, although the scoreline is obviously very hard to take.

"Attacking wise we're fine, but Arsenal managed to get through us a bit too easily.

"It's all part of learning. When we have the ball, I think we're as good as anyone at passing it around. We have to get hold of it more often and attack teams more, and that's what we'll be working on this week in training.

"Chelsea have a different way of playing than Arsenal, and with us being at home it will hopefully give us a bit more of an advantage."

A lot has been made already on the fact that Roberto Martinez's side are still adjusting to a new style of play, and Boyce has re-iterated the point that things are going to take time, but it's important to still be picking up points during this period.

"The manager has introduced a new way of playing, and there have also been a lot of new players who have come into the squad.

"It will take time, as with anything, but the results speak for themselves, and we need to crack on and get as many points on the board as we can, because we don't want to be playing catch-up too early in the season.

"We're disappointed but we have to bounce back against Chelsea."
