RIGHT MOVE

Posted on: Fri 11 Sep 2009

Winger enjoying life on the right and hungry for goals this season

One of the significant changes Roberto Martinez has made to Latics' game-plan is the decision to play Charles N'Zogbia on the right of midfield.

Although a naturally left-sided player, N'Zogbia has been a revelation on the right, and speaking to us recently he explained how he's enjoying the gaffer's new football philosophy and aiming to get himself on the score-sheet more often this season.

"It's been different playing out on the right, but I've enjoyed it," said N'Zogbia.

"Whether I'm playing on the left or the right I'll always give my all and enjoy it. I want to make a big impact in games and I work hard to try and do that.

"With the new formation the manager has introduced we see a lot more of the ball and play more football. We can play direct football in a different manner than before and it's a way of football that I'm enjoying.

"Personally I want to try and score as many goals as possible this season, that's the goal I've set myself. I also look to get plenty of assists as well, and just generally help the team in everything I do on the pitch."

In the meantime Latics' record-signing has his sights set on Saturday's clash against West Ham; a chance to rectify recent results and come come up against one or two familiar faces.

He said: "It's a big game on Saturday and we've all been working hard in training to make sure we're ready to go out and get three points.

"We've got tough games following this one against Arsenal and Chelsea so a good result against West Ham will give us the confidence needed going into the next game.

"We got off to a good start at Aston Villa, but the results since haven't been great. There have been one or two unlucky moments, but we've always kept working hard as a team and with the guidance of the manager, and hopefully we can get three points at the weekend.

"I remember Kieron (Dyer) and Scott (Parker) from when I played at Newcastle United with them. They're both very good players in a good team and it's going to be a tough game. But we're at home so we're going to be trying our best to get something off them."
