Latics re-arrange schedule to face St. Mirren

Wigan Athletic can confirm that the pre-season friendly against UD Almeria scheduled for 8th August 2009 has been cancelled.

Officials from the La Liga outfit made the decision due to safety concerns over the recent swine-flu epidemic.

Latics have instead arranged to take on SPL side St. Mirren on the same date at a 3:00pm kick-off at the DW Stadium.

The first recorded game against Latics and a team from outside of England was against St. Mirren back on 21st April 1952, in which Wigan Athletic ran out 2-1 winners, with Nat Lofthouse, making a guest appearance, getting on the scoresheet. Latics again triumphed over 'The Saints' as they are nicknamed, by the same score in 2001.
