Young Polish duo sign new improved deals at the club
Latics are delighted to announce that their two young Polish internationals have signed new deals at the club.
TOMASZ CYWKA, The Poland Under 21 international who turns 21 in June, has been at the club since the 2006, and was on the fringes of the first team squad before a serious knee injury cut his season short in the Spring.
He came on at Tottenham in the FA Cup, and was very impressive in the reserves all season, scoring six goals in 14 appearances, most of those playing as a lone striker.
Poland Under 19s international TOMASZ KUPISZ, now 19, joined the club in 2007, and he too has been in and around the first team squad this season, including as an unused substitute on Sunday against Portsmouth.
He enjoyed a tremendous debut for the first team, scoring as a late substitute against Notts County in the 4-0 Carling Cup win back in August.
Steve Bruce said: "These boys, as well as the likes of Callum McManaman and Jon Routledge, form the future of the club, and it pleases me greatly that we have the healthiest squad of young players coming through at the moment since I've been here.
"We wouldn't be offering these boys anything if we didn't think they were capable of breaking into the squad, and now it's up to them to keep learning, keep playing their best for the reserves and for the first team when called upon and keep making it difficult for me to leave them out."
Tomasz Cywka said: "I'm happy to sign. I had a pretty good season until the injury, but my plan now is to move to the next level and try and make it into the first team squad. It has to be."
Tomasz Kupisz said: "I have been happy at Wigan and I feel my game has come on. But I want to play first team football and my ambition is to do that here at Wigan."
