"A club needs more than two keepers," he said, "and I feel really settled here. I'd like to play more, who wouldn't?" But he added, "it's a good club and there's a great team spirit."
Steve Bruce has made it clear that he the club needs three keepers.
"Chris Kirkland has been the number one choice here in my time, and rightly so, because on his day he is a world class keeper. But his injury problems have been well documented, and as was proved in the last few games of the season, we need to have three experienced keepers here.
"Polly's a terrific professional and I'd have no hesitation in playing him in any game. I'm delighted he's agreed to stay with us for another year because he's a character and a great lad to have around the dressing room".
Pollitt has played 30 times in the Premier League for Latics.
