Midfielder hungry for more action after impressive debut

By Paul Chialton

Cho Won-Hee was able to make his Latics debut against Stoke on Saturday, a remarkable fact considering the time it has taken him to recover from a calf-injury that threatened to keep him out until next season.

Speaking after the game the South Korean explained how appreciative he was for everyone's help in getting him ready for the game and his desire to show the fans what he is capable of after getting his first taste of Premier League football:

"Playing my first Premier League game has helped my own self-confidence to grow and I think that given the opportunity, and with the support of my team-mates, I can help bring harmony to the team.

"I'm already looking forward to next season and hopefully I can continue to learn and adapt to football at this level. The main reason I've been able to settle in so fast is because of the support from my team-mates so I'm really thankful to have had them there to help me.

"I also really appreciate the work all the medical staff at Wigan have done for me. Without their help I couldn't have recovered from injury so quickly.

"Plus on top of that I will not forget what I heard from the fans this afternoon, which makes me want to give better performances in the future and make a good impression on them, especially next season."

JOLLY GOOD CHO: Won-Hee made an impressive debut at the Britannia Stadium.
It was a confident display from the midfielder that also earned positive reviews from Steve Bruce and Eric Black who both anticipate a bright future for the player:

Cho's done remarkably well to get himself fit and be a part of this season", said Bruce.

"He did very well today, kept it neat and tidy and you can see that he's a real worker, so I'm confident he's going to be a decent acquisition for us."

Eric Black backed this up and added his vision on where he sees Cho playing in the future:

"I think Cho deserves a lot of credit because he's been out for a long time with injury and hardly played a game for three and-a-half months, yet I thought he did very well today.

"It was obvious he was going to run out of energy but I thought he was one of the positives to come out of today's game.

"He's a central midfielder who can keep hold of the ball and can press forward with it. He's got good energy levels and it's good for us to have another option in the area."
