Charles hoping for left-midfield role and eyeing a European place.

Wigan's final January signing Charles N'Zogbia can't wait to show the Wigan fans what he can do and hopes to get his first opportunity on Saturday when Fulham visit the JJB Stadium. He is also convinced that Wigan can push on and really achieve something special this season.

"It's going to be a new challenge for me," says the Frenchman, "but I'm looking forward to playing and hopefully I can do something with Wigan.

"There's a really good atmosphere about the place, all the players are friendly and we always have a laugh and enjoy training plus Steve Bruce is a really good manager who you can talk to and get along with.

"I signed for Wigan because I've seen them play and they are looking to play in the European Cup at the end of the year or next year so it seems like I'm going to be happy, and enjoy my football here.

"I'm ready to play and hopefully I'm going to play all the games between now and the end of the season but we'll wait and see what happens."

The 22 year-old still believes he has a point to prove and is looking forward to playing in his favoured position.

"I need to play a lot of games and I need to do something for my football because at Newcastle sometimes I played and sometime not.  I've had a talk with Steve and I'm going to play in my regular position, left midfield.

"Sometimes people ask what is my regular position because they don't know if I play left-back or left midfield, for me my real position is left midfield and hopefully Wigan will be happy with me there.

Charles has been re-united with some old friends a Christopher Park this week, and if there was ever a question about needing to settle in, Antoine Sibierski and Titus Bramble have certainly played their part.

"Titus helped me when I first went to Newcastle and he has already said that if there's anything I need to let him know and Antoine is the same as well.

"it's good to have someone already there who you know and who you can trust so it's no problem."
