'Teams are taking notice of us now' claims midfielder

By Paul Chialton

Lee Cattermole praised the attitude shown by Latics against Manchester City on Saturday and how the team overcame a mental challenge to put up a real fight against the home side, pushing them all the way to until the final whistle:

"The attitude from the lads was superb again today and if we show that kind of spirit in all our games I'm sure we'll come away with three points in the future.

"I felt a bit leggy to start with, but the manager said at half-time it was a mental challenge to get over.

"Then we came out in the second-half, got ourselves going, battled hard and I think everyone can see we were unlucky in the end."

The midfielder, who has been so influential for Wigan this season, believes the team are now getting the recognition they deserve and that a break in the fixture list should have them fresh and ready for the visit of Liverpool a week on Wednesday:

"You can see what people are saying about us at the moment, they're taking notice and respecting the fact that they're not going to have an easy game against us.

"Sir Alex Ferguson even came out and said we were the best team to visit Old Trafford this season. So you can see people sitting up and recognising us as a good side.

"We don't play now until a week on Wednesday so it's a good chance for the lads to rest, recover and come back fresh for the Liverpool game.

"It's a big game for a team like us to be able to test ourselves against one of the big teams."
