Jason Koumas scored early against Georgia but it wasn't enough for Toshack's men.

Latics midfielder Jason Koumas tried a speculative effort against the Georgian keeper who spilled the balled and was unable to prevent it from crossing the line in the friendly at the Liberty Stadium.

However Wales were to lose 2-1 with the manager blaming the defeat on poor defending and the number of experienced players missing from his side.

Kevin Kilbane played for the Republic of Ireland in Norway in which Robbie Keane scored in the 44th for the Republic.

But in the second half the rain turned torrential and Ireland's passing game deserted them and Norway capitalised on Dean Kiely's error which Kilbane couldn't clear to level the match.  After the equaliser Ireland stood firm to hold out for the draw in poor conditions.

Sven Goran Ericsson's debut as Mexico manager resulted in a 2-1 over Honduras .

Honduras, for whom Maynor Figueroa and Wilson Palacios both started, opened the scoring in the 35th minute with a stunning free kick from Parma's Julio Cesar Leon, known as "Rambo," who bounced the ball off the crossbar into the goal.

But Mexico's incessant attacks finally paid off with Pardo's rapid-fire goals in the 73rd and 76^th minutes.

However Wigan's Maynor Figueroa was sent off on 77 minutes for his second bookable offence, for protesting that the 2nd Mexico goal was offside.

There was a 2-2 draw for Paul Scharner's Austria who played World Champions Italy in Nice in which an Austrian own goal by Ramazan Ozcan in the 66^th minute rescued Italy.  Latics defender Paul Schanrer was replaced in the 47^th minute by Ronald Gercaliu.


CZECH OUT HESK - Heksey plays 2nd Half

Emile Heskey was a half time Substitute in England's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic.

An injury time Joe Cole goal spared England's blushes, but not the criticism.  It would appear that Fabio Capello's honeymoon period as England Manager is over.

There was a shock in Africa as Amr Zaki and Nations Cup holders Egypt crashed to a 4-0 defeat by Sudan after two goals from Mudathir Tahir, three of which came in the last 10 minutes.

And finally Henri Camara's Senegal, served up a 0-0 draw with Libya in Tripoli.
